Water-Cooled Chillers and Heat Pumps
Frigo Plus manufactures several series of water-cooled units that can function as water chillers or heat pumps. These units operate on the principle of water-to-water heat exchange, utilizing water (or a water-glycol mixture) as both a heat source and a heat sink.
Consequently, they can be configured or designed for:
- Cooling — The unit operates as a water chiller, controlling cooling only.
- Heating — The unit operates as a heat pump, controlling heating only.
- Heating and cooling — Depending on the selected operating mode, the control system manages either heating or cooling, but not both simultaneously.
In general, these units utilize the natural refrigerant R290 (propane), which has an extremely low global warming potential (GWP100 = 0.02). For low-temperature applications (below -5 °C), the natural refrigerant R1270 (propylene)—with a GWP100 = 0 can be used. Furthermore, these natural refrigerants have zero ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0). As a result, they are exempt from the restrictions stipulated by the F-Gas Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2024/573 on fluorinated gases).
Upon request, certain unit series can be designed for high-temperature water heating (up to 90 °C) using the natural refrigerant R600a (isobutane), which has a GWP100 = 0 and an ODP = 0.
Each unit is factory-tested in accordance with the EN 14511 standard and comes pre-charged with refrigerant and oil. The supervision and conformity assessment of the assembly were carried out in accordance with Directive 2014/68/EU on pressure equipment (PED), ensuring compliance with the relevant safety and environmental protection requirements.

Its footprint fits within the dimensions of a standard Euro pallet (1200×800 mm), allowing for easy transportation, handling and installation. It is primarily designed to meet the heating and cooling requirements of small-capacity systems. The unit is equipped with a high-performance hermetic scroll compressor and is intended for indoor installation.

Probox

Its footprint fits within the dimensions of a standard Euro pallet (1200×800 mm), allowing for easy transportation, handling and installation. PROBOX units are designed for indoor installation in accordance with the European standard EN 378. They are intended to meet heating or cooling demands in small- to medium-capacity systems. Multiple PROBOX units can be connected in parallel to increase the overall system capacity. Key refrigerant circuit components are available in ATEX-certified versions, including the semi-hermetic reciprocating compressor.

Exceptional compactness and modularity make these units ideal for retrofit applications, e.g. existing buildings with limited installation space. By connecting multiple FLIPPER units in parallel, a flexible system is created that can also cover the needs of larger systems.
